A Spell for Silencing Toxic Communication
This spell is for the people in your life who are constantly making small digs that are hurtful or trying to get a rise out of you. Every remark, every backhanded compliment that makes you feel like you need to call them out and defend yourself. And when you do, suddenly you're the one overreacting. Making a scene. Being dramatic. Only for them to turn around and use it against you later.
They won't take accountability for their own poor communication or for saying hurtful things. And no amount of explaining or calling it out seems to make any difference. This pattern shows up most in the people closest to you — family, old friendships, anyone who's decided they know exactly how sensitive you are and exactly how far they can push it.
So instead of putting more energy into trying to make them see what they're doing — give them a taste of it. Let the negativity and discomfort of their words sit in their own mouth before they have a chance to speak them.
Your silence isn't weakness. You don't have to engage in conflict to let someone know you won't tolerate their negativity.
This isn't a spell you do instead of having a hard conversation if a hard conversation is actually possible. It's for when that conversation has already been tried and gotten you exactly nowhere.
The Bitter Tongue Binding
What you need
Paper / fabric— folded or sewn into a mouth shape(origami mouth)
Black thread and needle
Wax for sealing
Banishing blend — black salt, cayenne, chili powder, black pepper mixed with a little oil
Thorns
What you do
Fold your paper into a mouth shape. This is the vessel so take your time with it.
Mix your banishing blend with enough oil to bind it together. You want it to feel like something, not just powder sitting there.
Fill the mouth. Banishing blend first, then the thorns. The thorns are specific — anything trying to come out of this mouth meets them first.
Sew it shut by hand, slowly. Each stitch is intentional. You're closing the specific thing that keeps opening, not just paper.
When it's sewn, pour wax directly over the stitching and let it set however it wants to set.
While you seal it, say this:
Words meant to wound turn bitter on your tongue
What you'd speak against me dies before it's begun
Nothing sharp you speak will touch me
Sew it shut, seal it closed, so it shall be
Carry this item with you whenever you are around the person it is intended for.
