About Soil Sage & Embers

Hey, I’m Jess — the hearth witch behind Soil Sage & Embers.

Soil Sage & Embers started as a personal experiment — a place to dig into what witchcraft really means now, compared to when I was a teenybopper casting spells from the questionably reliable books from Barnes & Nobles. Back then, the internet was basically a rumor, and most of what I learned came from trial, error, and sheer curiosity.

These days, there’s endless information everywhere — but I kept craving something tangible. Something you can touch, smell, stir, burn, bury, and feel in your bones. That’s what this space became: a way to explore witchcraft through texture, movement, and the kind of sensory magic that pulls you into the moment.

My own practice is a mix of the simple and the gritty. I love the easy stuff — simmer pots, candles, a quick burn to release — but I come alive when I’m elbow-deep in herbs, grinding, creating, destroying, getting messy, or trying out a new divination method.

When I started sharing my work, it wasn’t about teaching or being an expert. It was about that spark — the excitement of finding new ways to connect with your craft and realizing you don’t have to keep that part of yourself hidden. I figured there had to be others out there — the so-called “normal moms,” the quiet witches, the ones who’ve been living half-in and half-out of their magic — ready to stop dimming that part of themselves.

The kits, guides, and seasonal tools you’ll find here are meant to help you feel your magic again. Each one is designed for full-body, sensory connection — a way to ground deeper into your practice and discover what’s possible when you let yourself show up completely.

So whether you’re here to explore, to remember, or to make a glorious mess of herbs and ashes — welcome. You’re in good company.
